Education Summit
Bucharest (RO), November 2010 - (by Elena Lita) During this year's edition of the Intel International Education Summit held in Bucharest, Romania, Intel announced plans to deploy the "Intel Teach - Elements" series in localized, translated versions in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, and Turkish starting the fourth quarter of 2010.
Appointment
Seoul (KR), November 2010 - ICDE member institution Korea National Open University (KNOU) has appointed Prof. Nam Chul Cho as the sixth President of Korea National Open University. He assumed the position at the end of September, taking over from Prof. See-Won Chang, and will serve for four years.

Brussels (BE), November 2010 - Certpoint Systems has announced that the Medical University of Yerevan, Armenia, has decided to adopt Certpoint VLS as the institution's eLearning platform. It will be used to underpin the education of 5,000 medical students and other medical-staff training, as well as simplifying and extending student administration.

Lisbon (PT), October 2010 - Xirrus has announced the deployment of Xirrus high performance 802.11n wi-fi arrays throughout the New University of Lisbon in Lisbon, Portugal. NOVA is a large university with seven campuses catering to nearly 7000 students.
Open Source LMS
Zurich (CH), October 2010 - OLAT (Online Learning And Training) is a web-based learning-management system. The latest major release - OLAT 7.0 - is now available. Some of the new features are a course element supporting IMS Basic LTI interoperability, a wizard simplifying the creation of OLAT courses, a pluggable QTI 2.1 test engine, and many improved features and components.

Milton Keynes (UK), October 2010 - The UK's largest Cisco Academy, The Open University, is celebrating its rapidly growing suite of IT-vendor certifications by offering two free places to study in the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programme starting in February, 2011.

London (UK), October 2010 - The team that delivers EQUELLA has formed a partnership with the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC). The goal of the collaboration is to provide educational institutions across the United Kingdom and Ireland with access to a hosted EQUELLA and Moodle environment.
