Sheffield (UK), October 2010 - ENABLE, the Leonardo project led by Learning Light that aims to bring eLearning to marginalised learners is making such impressive progress that it is attracting interest from outside Europe.
Language Learning
Tuebingen (GER), October 2010 - This "eLearning for Languages" evaluation study draws on Moodle-based eLearning tools, contents, and activities from ongoing EU projects. It is being carried out by the Applied English Linguistics group at the University of Tuebingen and offers model units to individuals interested in the study.
Virtual Tutors
Rome (IT), September 2010 - "T2 Teaching Tutoring - Intelligent Agents to customize lifelong learning pathways in the microfinance sector" is supported by the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme. It addresses the needs of European microfinance institutions that provide micro-credit to non-bankable micro-enterprises and low-income and marginalized people. Cedefop Study
Thessaloniki (GR), September 2010 - Cedefop's forthcoming study "Skills for Green Jobs" looks at the skills needed to develop a low-carbon economy in six Member States (Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Spain, and the UK) and suggests priorities for policy makers.

Barcelona (ES)/Wildau (GER) - September 2010 - The website elearningeuropa.info, an initiative of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture, chose COMBLE as its "Project of the Month". COMBLE'S aim is to improve the quality of blended learning.
Global Campus 21
Bonn (GER), August 2010 - (by Kirsten Seegmüller) Ten years after the launch of their eLearning platform Global Campus 21, the non-profit organization InWEnt, Capacity Building International, started the GC21 E-Academy, where experts and managers all over the world can participate in courses. For developing countries in particular, this means a tremendous step forward in education since many people have not been able to access content due to a lack of infrastructure.

Brussels (BE), June 2010 - The Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL) invites participation in a consultation process about Open Educational Practices (OEP). The OPAL project is a new international initiative to promote innovation and better quality in education and training through the use of open educational resources.
Outreach
Sheffield (UK), May 2010 - Learning Light is leading an EU-wide consortium of organisations developing effective ways to use eLearning to reach and engage "marginalised" learners. This 300,000-euro project is funded by the EU under the Leonardo Transfer of Innovation scheme.

Competence Modeling
Duisburg (GER)/Athens (GR), April 2010 - WACOM (WAter COmpetences Model Transfer) is the European Leonardo-da-Vinci Project for the transfer of a competence model to the water sector. Its integration and harmonization with the European Qualification Framework (EQF) for competence modeling throughout Europe is another aspect of the effort.
Benchmarks
Brussels (BE), March 2010 - Open ECBCheck, the first international quality standard for ELearning programmes and institutions in international Capacity Building is now available. Initiated by Germany's InWent - Capacity Building International and EFQUEL, Open ECBCheck has been developed through a unique interagency collaboration of about 25 international capacity-building agencies and their partners, amongst them eight UN agencies.
Interoperability
Vienna (AT), February 2010 - ELENA demonstrates the feasibility of smart learning spaces. These are platforms that allow the consumption of heterogeneous learning services via assessment tools, learning management systems, educational (meta) repositories, and live delivery systems such as videoconferencing.
