A new Kineo Research Report
Brighton, January 2006 - "Trainers ignore informal learning at their peril" is the stark warning in a new Kineo Research Report. Kineo argues that many trainers are failing in their role as learning professionals by ignoring informal learning. Trainers can and should get involved in it, otherwise they are potentially ignoring 80% of the learning in their organisation.
Informal learning is increasingly the hot topic in the learning world. An example of the reason for this is the fact that almost everyone uses Google as a learning tool.
Informal learning is hot because it has become:
- deep and pervasive (representing over 80% of learning that occurs in organisations, according to an ATOS KPMG Consulting survey)
- uncontrolled (most is through colleagues and self discovery - without the training department in sight)
- powerful (it is the driving force of the real learning culture of the organisation)
